Bessemer City Seeking Artwork for New Downtown Park

The City of Bessemer City is currently seeking images of artwork, including photography, from local artists in the Bessemer City area and Gaston County to be used for public display in the City’s newly renovated Centennial Park in downtown Bessemer City.  The parks size is approximately 78FT X 110 FT.  The new park will include the following features:

  •          Water fountain
  •          Seating area
  •          New lighting
  •          Artificial turf
  •          Sidewalks
  •          Landscaping
  •          Stage for concerts and performances
  •          Suspended shade sails
  •          Public art displays

The City of Bessemer City desires to display public art by replicating/reproducing work and placing them on the walls of this downtown park.  The park will be a gathering place for downtown events and will serve as a focal point for local art in the Bessemer City Community.

All interested artist should submit work to Gaston Arts Council for consideration.
Submit high resolution images, via link to website, dropbox file, google doc file or other electronic viewing method to gac@gastonarts.org.

The City of Bessemer City also plans to transition into a revolving art program allowing art in the park to change out periodically.  At this time, the city will consider between 6-10 pieces of work for the park.
