New Billing Statements

The City has transitioned to different utility bill statements. See the picture below for an example of what your next bill will look like. We have also included a monthly newsletter with each bill so citizens can stay up-to-date with things going on with the City!

Services

photo-for-financeThe City of Bessemer City provides water, sewer, natural gas, garbage and recycling collection services to its citizens. We strive to maintain accurate utility bills and to assist customers with their billing questions. Utility bills are mailed on or about the 25th of each month and are due by the 10th of the following month. A late fee in the amount of 5% of the outstanding balance will be assessed on all unpaid accounts after the 10th. Services are subject to disconnection after the 15th if payment arrangements have not been made. Up to two (2) extensions are allowed per year for service payments at a fee of $5.00 each and arrangements MUST be made prior to the 15th. These extend the time allowed for payment without penalty to the end of the month.

To apply for new services, please visit City Hall.  An application can be obtained at City Hall or downloaded online.  An application can be submitted in advance by fax or email.  An activation fee of $40 is required prior to new services.  Valid photo identification, your social security card and a rental receipt or signed lease agreement with the exact service address is required. Once the application has been made, the deposit amount will be determined according to the schedule below. Deposits are not required of homeowners, but a copy of the Deed of Trust or Settlement Statement is required.

Utility Deposits
