Kiss the Pig Fundraiser

September 5, 2020 @ 6:30 pm

Kiss the Pig Fundraiser
The City of Bessemer City and Bessemer City’s Backpack Program is pleased to announce a Kiss the Pig Fundraiser. The fundraiser will be held September 5th at 6:30 pm at Centennial Park in downtown Bessemer City.

The Bessemer City Backpack Program is a non-profit organization that provides nutritionally-balanced, non-perishable weekend meals to students in Bessemer City. The program feeds on average 40 students at $300 per child a year from Bessemer City Central School.

The Backpack Program gets most of their donations from working at the Community Concert and Cruise-In Series, these are held at Centennial Park from April to September. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 many of the concerts have been cancelled; thus, limiting the donations made to the Backpack Program. All proceeds will go directly towards providing food and supplies for the Backpack Program.

Each entity will select persons, who are willing to “Kiss the Pig”, to fundraise. Each person’s goal is to raise $500, but there are some twists. The person who raises the least amount of money will automatically have to kiss the pig, and the person who raises the most money will get to pick someone out of the participants to kiss the pig.

The participants representing the Bessemer City Backpack Program are: Dr. & Mrs. Robert Crouch, Owner of Whiskey Mill Mike Croft, Michael Meeks, Shilo Canipe, and Srinivas Kudaravalli.

The participants representing the City of Bessemer City are: Mayor Pro Tempore Dan Boling, City Manager James Inman, Chief of BC Police Department Tom Ellis, and Recreation Director JoD Franklin. Mayor Becky Smith, will be the judge for the fundraiser.

If you would like to donate towards a specific persons fund or for more information, call 704-629-5111 or email efrazier@bessemercity.com
