Federal and State Grants have allowed the City of Bessemer City, Gaston County Health & Human Services, and Ottendorf Laboratories, LLC to partner for a FREE COVID-19 drive-thru testing site at the Allan Farris Community Center in Bessemer City.  The testing site will be open to the public by appointment starting Monday, February 15, 2021.  The site also has the potential to transition into a FREE COVID-19 drive-thru vaccination site for the public in the next 30-45 days.  At that time, the site will serve as a testing and vaccination site.

“This is a great opportunity for the City to work with partners to provide needed testing for citizens in the Bessemer City area.” said Becky S. Smith, Mayor. “We are also excited about using the Allan Farris Community Center as a potential site for vaccinations.  As Mayor and on behalf of the Bessemer City Council, we want to do all that we can to protect the public from this virus and offer opportunities for testing and vaccines.”

The City of Bessemer City is committed to working with partners for this testing and future vaccination site.  Testing and vaccinations are important as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread in our community.

“We are very thankful for the opportunity and quick response from Bessemer City to partner with us on this project.” said Laticia Godette, President of Ottendorf Laboratories, LLC.  “Partnerships like this with Bessemer City are key to combating COVID-19.  The Mayor and City Council along with City staff are taking a proactive step by partnering with Gaston County Health & Human Services and our organization.”

The testing site will be open seven (7) days a week from the hours of 10:30AM-5:30PM at the Allan Farris Community Center, 220 South 14th Street, Bessemer City, NC 28016.  Appointments for testing can be made by visiting the link below or going to  For information and questions about the site, please call (302) 518-3022.
