Water Discoloration-

This past week, staff recognized water discoloration in the system. The discoloration appears to be due to falling temperatures last week (below 30 degrees), which ultimately impacts iron and manganese levels in the water. The water plant is treating with more potassium permanganate, which helps remove iron and manganese. There were no changes in water discoloration at the water plant (basins and filters) until this week.

Additionally, due to Arrowood Lake’s level dropping slightly (drought-related), water is being pulled from a lower depth, which could also contribute to water discoloration.

Staff will continue to flush lines to mitigate the presence of discolored water.

Please note that this discolored water DOES NOT pose a health or safety risk.
