FY 27 City Manager’s Recommended Budget
The City Manager’s Recommended Budget for Fiscal Year 2027 has been submitted to the Bessemer City City Council for review and consideration. The recommended budget was presented during the City Council Work Session (Budget Session II) held on April 28, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.
This budget represents the City Manager’s recommendation based on City Council’s adopted Strategic Plan, budget priorities, financial challenges including the City’s Unit Assistance List (UAL) designation with the Local Government Commission (LGC), and the prioritization schedule discussed throughout the budget process. It is important to note that this is not the final adopted budget. City Council will continue reviewing and discussing the recommendation before taking final action.
Any changes to the City Manager’s Recommended Budget would be directed by City Council through a Council-Modified version of the proposed budget. Those changes may adjust the proposed budget, ordinance, or fee schedule prior to final consideration and adoption.
An additional budget presentation will take place during the regular City Council meeting on Monday, May 11, 2026, at 7:00pm at the same time as the budget public hearing. Additional information and possible modifications may be presented at that time, depending on direction provided by City Council and whether a Council-Modified budget is prepared for further consideration.
