CITY OF BESSEMER CITY, NORTH CAROLINA
NATURAL GAS FACILITIES RELOCATION: NCDOT U-6078
Pursuant to Section 143-129 of the General Statutes of North Carolina, sealed proposals endorsed “Natural Gas Facilities Relocation NCDOT U-6078” will be received by the City of Bessemer City at the Public Works Building, 405 N. 9th Street, until 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at which time they will be publicly opened and read.

Expected Bid Award

This project involves the installation of, tie-in to, and commissioning of approximately 665 linear feet of 6-inch steel natural gas mains and associated appurtenances. The method of installation for the mains shall be direct bury. The length of the Contract will be sixty (60) calendar days.
All work shall be completed in accordance with the Specifications included in the bid package. The bid submitted shall include the cost to install various pipeline facilities listed in the Proposal Form. All work completed on the City of Bessemer City natural gas system shall be completed in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations as described in the Contract Documents.

Proposals must be submitted on the standard form provided in the Contract Documents package and must be marked “Proposal for Natural Gas Facilities Relocation – NCDOT U-6078”. The quantities listed for the various requirements of these specifications are estimated quantities, with the City reserving the right to make quantity adjustments should the need arise.

Each proposal must be accompanied by a deposit equal to five percent (5%) of the total Bid amount. This deposit may consist of cash; a certified check drawn on a bank or trust company authorized to do business in the State of North Carolina; a certified check drawn on a bank insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and payable to the City of Bessemer City, North Carolina; or a five percent (5%) Bid Bond issued by any insurance company authorized to do business in the State of North Carolina. The deposit shall be retained in the event of failure of the Successful Bidder to execute the contract within ten (10) days after the award or to give satisfactory surety as required.

All contractors are hereby notified that they shall properly comply with all North Carolina laws governing their respective trades. Bidders shall hold, at the time of bid submission and throughout the award and execution process, a valid North Carolina General Contractor License with a Public Utilities classification and a monetary limitation sufficient for the total value of the Work bid, including all alternates, if applicable. Failure to possess and maintain the required license classification and limitation may render a Bid non-responsive and subject to rejection.
The City of Bessemer City reserves the right to reject any and all bids and will not discriminate against any bidder submitting a bid because of race, creed, color, national origin, religion, disability, or any other status protected by applicable law.
