Announcements, City News|

As the Fourth of July holiday approaches, the Bessemer City Police Department is intensifying its efforts to ensure roadway safety across the community. From June 29 through July 5, the department is actively participating in the statewide “Operation Firecracker: Booze It & Lose It” traffic safety campaign.

The primary objective of this high-visibility initiative is straightforward: to eliminate impaired driving. This enforcement and public awareness campaign runs during the holiday period and throughout the 101 days of summer to significantly reduce traffic crashes, injuries, and fatalities caused by motorists driving under the influence.

This campaign directly complements the North Carolina Vision Zero initiative, a statewide effort aimed at saving lives and achieving zero traffic-related fatalities on North Carolina roadways. The Bessemer City Police Department reminds all motorists that the choices made behind the wheel impact every life on the road. We urge all residents and visitors to celebrate responsibly, plan ahead for safe transportation, and always drive sober.
