DEVELOPER WITHDRAWS REZONING REQUEST APPLICATION
BESSEMER CITY, N.C. – The City of Bessemer City has received notice from Exponential Equity, developers of a proposed 225 unit multi-family housing apartment project located on Bess Town Road (PID 151220), that they have decided to withdraw their rezoning application at this time due to public opposition and cost of utility extensions to the site.
An advertised public hearing was held on Monday, August 14th, 2023 to hear public comment regarding this rezoning request from Rural (R) to Urban Residential-Conditional District (URCD) per North Carolina General Statutes (NCGS) and the Bessemer City Land Development Code (LDC). It is required by NCGS and the City’s LDC to consider all rezoning requests when an application is received. The City’s LDC outlines the process for all rezoning requests.
