BESSEMER CITY POLICE ARREST ROBBERY SUSPECT

 

Bessemer City, NC – (Thursday, December 5, 2024) – On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, officers with the Bessemer City Police Department responded to an armed robbery at Kingsway, located at 201 S. 14th Street, at 12:28 p.m.

The suspect, later identified as Jackson Chase Hunt, (DOB 11/28/2006), entered the store, produced a handgun, fired a shot, demanded money, and stole an entire display case of vape products before exiting on foot toward the railroad tracks. No one was injured during the shooting.

Officers acted swiftly, deploying resources to the crime scene and the surrounding area. At approximately 12:32 p.m., an officer spotted a person matching the suspect’s description fleeing on foot near West Carolina Avenue. The individual was detained for investigative purposes, and during a search, officers recovered a firearm and several boxes of vape products.

Surveillance footage from Kingsway confirmed the detained individual was the robbery suspect. The stolen display case and vape products were recovered and returned to the store. Hunt was transported to the Bessemer City Police Department, where he was interviewed and confessed to the robbery. He was then transferred to Gaston County Jail, appearing before a magistrate, and received a $150,000 secured bond.

We also greatly appreciate the support provided by the Gaston County Police Department, whose support was instrumental in bringing this incident to a successful resolution.”

The investigation remains active, and no further details are currently available.
