With a heavy heart, the City of Bessemer City announces the passing of City Council Member Kay McCathen. Ms. Kay McCathen served more than 27 years on the Bessemer City Council and in many other community-based organizations and initiatives that bettered the City. Ms. Kay McCathen was whole-heartedly committed to the success of Bessemer City. She loved this City and always supported doing the right thing. She was fully committed to serving others in everything she did.
- She cared about her family.
- She cared about citizens.
- She cared about Bessemer City Staff.
- She cared for everyone.
Please continue to pray for Ms. Kay McCathen’s family, friends, BC Staff and Council, and community members as we all mourn this incredible loss to our community. May we all remember Kay’s spirit and commitment to loving others. Kay held the City with a Heart close to her own heart.
