PUBLIC NOTICE – EPA Brownfields Assessment Grant & PUBLIC MEETING
The City of Bessemer City has been awarded a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Brownfields Assessment Grant to fund local revitalization efforts aimed at improving quality of life and encouraging redevelopment of underutilized properties. This grant will support environmental assessments, cleanup planning, and community engagement activities to identify and evaluate priority brownfield sites for reuse.
PUBLIC MEETING – COMMUNITY INPUT INVITED
The City will host a Public Meeting to discuss the Brownfields Assessment Grant project, share information about the grant activities, and provide an opportunity for public input prior to the submission of the grant application. At this meeting, residents and stakeholders will be able to:

PROJECT INFORMATION
The EPA Brownfields Assessment Grant provides funding to inventory, characterize, and plan for the cleanup of properties that may be contaminated by hazardous substances or petroleum. These efforts help pave the way for future economic opportunities, neighborhood revitalization, and job creation.
Draft materials related to the grant application and environmental assessments are available for review upon request. Written comments are encouraged and will be accepted at the meeting or submitted to the City prior to the application deadline.
