Public Notice to Natural Gas Customers
Bessemer City, NC – Bessemer City natural gas customers are advised that upcoming gas bills may be significantly higher than in previous months.
The New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) natural gas contract recently closed at a substantially higher price, which directly impacts the cost of natural gas purchased for February. Recent ice storms, colder weather, and regional supply concerns have contributed to the increase in market prices.
As a result, February natural gas rates may be nearly double January’s rates. If cold temperatures continue, overall monthly bills could be considerably higher due to both increased usage and higher fuel costs.
The City wants customers to be aware of these market-driven changes so they can plan accordingly. Updates may also be shared on the City website and through billing notices.
